Listen to Obituary

Adrienne Lynn Martinez, 48, of Indianapolis, passed away on August 23, 2024.

She was born on February 14, 1976, in Linton, Indiana, the first daughter of Alan and Cecelia Martinez. She spent most of her formative years in Anderson, where she was a long-time member of Job's Daughters (Honored Queen—1993) and graduated from Madison Heights High School.

After attending Marian University she held a number of professional roles, including project coordinator at John Wiley & Sons, project manager at Well Done Marketing, Mortenson Safar Kim and Mansfield King, as well as traffic coordinator at St. Vincent Health.

Her most important roles, however, were those of a dedicated big sister, a supportive wife and a loving mother.

A lifelong animal lover, she maintained a small pet care business in her spare time for many years, offering services to friends and neighbors. None of these animals, however, captured her heart quite as much as her late basset hounds, Bartleby and Oliver. In addition to her love for dogs and cats, she enjoyed cooking, exploring new foods, and listening to music. And, she would never turn down a chance to play - and likely win - a game of Scrabble.

Adrienne is survived by her husband, Jason Hathaway; daughter, Vera Hathaway; mother, Cecelia Martinez; sister, Valerie Steger; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father.

The memory of Adrienne’s warmth, kindness, and sense of humor will help fill our hearts on the days when her absence feels like too much to bear.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Anderson Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to FACE Low Cost Animal Clinic, 1505 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46201,faceanimalclinic.org.
