Alma L. Downey

Alma Lucille Downey, 105, of Anderson, passed away on June 11, 2023, at her home. She was born on May 15, 1918, in Little Graham, Indiana, and resided most of her life in the Lapel Community.

Alma graduated from New Marion High School, Class of 1935. She and her husband farmed all their lives. She was a member of Daybreak Community Church and the Prairie Farmerettes Home Economics Club for many years.

Alma is survived by her daughters, Diane (Paul) Lawther, Kathleen (Steve) Brown, and Coleen (Bob) Julian; sister, Ione Rogers, grandchildren, Mike (Donna) Lawther, Scott Lawther, Shelley Fisher-Chapman, Kent (Jenny) Watson, Rob (Claudia) Fisher, Andy (Ivonne) Anderson, April (Jeff) Beitz, Todd (Cristina) Brown; great-grandchildren, Baylee (Brian) Robertson, Jordan (Riley) Worley, Brandan Chapman, Austin Chapman, Lucas Fisher, Mari Fisher, Tyler Watson, Kailyda Anderson, Katiawna Anderson, Jack Brown, Lucy Brown, Lauren Beitz and Amanda (Landon) Paddock, several great-great-grandchildren, special friends, Buzz and Marsha Anderson, several nieces and nephews and special thanks to caregivers, Missy and Brinkley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and May (Demaree) Mathews; husband of 80 years, Paul Downey; siblings, Freedith Lindfors, Marshal Mathews, Aldean Williams, Walter Mathews; great-grandson, Jeremiah Martin, and great-grandchild, Nathan Beitz.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023, 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St. Anderson, IN.

Services will be Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 2:30 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Cole officiating.

Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to Daybreak Community Church in Lapel.
