Altha Bernice Williams Gorden

Altha Bernice Williams Gorden passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 24, 2026. She was born on December 29, 1934, in Anderson, Indiana, the daughter of Harry Cross Williams and Edna Oris Chapman Williams.

Mom graduated from Anderson High School in 1954. She then went on to work at Delco Remy, where she met, fell in love, and married our dad, Don Gorden. They married in 1956, and enjoyed 66 years together before his passing in 2022.

Mom bought her first sewing machine when we were kids and started a lifelong passion for sewing and quilting. She made our clothes, the curtains for our home, repaired our accidents, and embraced quilting. She shared those skills with us with love and exceptional skill. She was always up for an adventure, traveling the country and camping with her kids and eventually grandkids.

She is survived by her children, Shaun (Debbie (deceased)) Gorden, , Kimberly (Bill, deceased) Ellington, and Neal (Terri) Gorden; grandchildren, Noel (Brent) Walburn of Selma, IN, Tess (Neel, significant other) Gorden, and Abby (Josh significant other) Gorden; great-grandson, Alex (Ali, significant other) Walburn; sisters-in-law, Linda Williams (Gordon, deceased), and Judith ( Jack) Poling, nephew, Steve Young (Cue Ling), and nieces, Vicki Lee, Carrie Jo (Mike) Owens, Sherrie (Darin) White, as well as many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Velma Young and Rosemary Williams; and brothers, Donald Eugene Williams and Gordon Williams.

Per Mom's wishes, cremation was selected, and there will not be a funeral. A private graveside service will take place in Anderson Memorial Park at a later date.
