Anna Mae Barker, 99, of Anderson, passed away on September 18, 2025, at Primrose Memory Care in Anderson, Indiana. She was born on April 18, 1926, in Mount Orab, Ohio, the daughter of Hubert and Martha (Heslar) Wallace.
Anna graduated from Mt. Orab High School in 1944. On July 4, 1945, she married the love of her life, Paul Barker Sr., who passed away in 1991.
Following high school, Anna moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked as an administrative secretary for the military. After World War II ended, she returned home to dedicate herself to her family as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She managed the household finances, cared deeply for her children and grandchildren, and consistently prioritized her family’s needs over her own. Anna also enjoyed gardening and weaving rugs on the family loom that had been passed down from her mother.
She is survived by her loving children, Paul Barker, Steve Barker (Sharon), and Sandra Swanson (Tom); daughter-in-law, Jane Barker; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband of 46 years, Anna was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce and Daniel Barker, as well as her parents and several siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Loose Funeral Home and Crematory, with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
