Betty L. (Lewis) Copeland, 88, of Anderson, passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 10, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent Anderson. She was born on March 24, 1933, in Anderson, the daughter of I. Fred and Bonnie (Featherston) Lewis. Betty was a 1951 graduate of Anderson High School and was employed for 14 years at the Anderson Public Library, working with their outreach program. She was known as "Sunshine" the clown at APL and retired in 1990. Betty was awarded the Scafa Scroll for her exceptional service to the community in 1985, by the Community Service Council. She attended Park Place Church of God and was a member of Toastmasters Club. She enjoyed crafting and coloring, and when camping with her husband often held Sunday school gatherings for the children. She is survived by her husband, Walter C. Copeland, whom she married on Jan. 21, 1962; five children, Rick (Sharron) Kestner, Lanette Weston, Dennis K. Copeland, Leslie French, Timothy (Ruthann) Copeland; eight grandchildren, Chuck Hanna, Brian Kestner, Jay Weston, Kelli Potter-Finley, Laurie Limbrock-Curry, Matthew Copeland, Andrew Copeland, Benjamin Copeland; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, David Copeland; and three brothers, Loren, Kenneth and Lloyd Lewis. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Jonathan Grubbs officiating. Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Children of Promise.
