Betty Louise Garrett

Betty Louise Garrett, 97, of Anderson passed away on August 3rd, 2022, at her residence. Betty was born on November 15, 1924, in Anderson, to Floyd and Ada (Hopkins) Durham. She then went on to marry the love of her life, Radius Garrett, and they were married for 58 years before his passing in 2008.

Betty worked for Delco Remy for 30 years before retiring. She attended Fall Creek Christian Church where she enjoyed dinners with the Golden Girls Club and spending time with the Senior Saints. She crafted afghans, dolls, and quilts for friends and family with her talents in crocheting and knitting.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Roy) Shields; Grandchildren, Cyndi (Emmett) McClure, Jeff (Lisa) Shelton; four great-grandchildren, Brian and Cody Foust, Samantha Wheldon, Jackson Shelton; four great-great Alexis and Makenzie Foust, Arya and Eryk Wheldon; and beloved four-legged companion, Benji. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Radius; brother Jimmy Durham; sisters, Nondas and Wilma Durham; and great-grandson, Michael Shelton.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service and Crematory, with Pastor Tom Wiles officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 2- 6 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

All memorial contributions in Betty’s name may be gifted to the Fall Creek Christian Church.
