Billy Gene Taylor

Billy Gene Taylor, 91, of Anderson passed away on March 17, 2023 at his home. Billy was born on September 12, 1931 in Mill Shoals, Illinois to the late Clarence and Nellie (Thackery) Taylor. Billy married the love of his life, Iva Smothers, and the two were married for 70 years. He faithfully served our country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He worked for Delco-Remy as a Fireman/Security Guard for a number of years. Billy loved gardening and working outdoors. Most importantly, he loved his family.

Billy will be dearly missed by his wife, Iva; grandson, Michael (Kathryn) Taylor; great-grandchildren, Drew, Luke, and Nora Taylor; brother, Don Taylor; sister, Alberta Andrews; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Taylor; and numerous siblings.

The visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, March 24, 2023 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson 46013. The funeral ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park. All memorial contributions in Billy’s name may be gifted to the Riley Children’s Hospital.
