Listen to Obituary

Litten, Carol Jean, 70, of Indianapolis, went to be with her Lord and Savior after a very brief battle with cancer on February 6, 2025 with her loving family by her side. She was born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida and graduated from Northeast High School Class of 1973.

Carol was a godly woman who loved to minister the word and pray with anyone she came into contact with. Just recently, Carol joined Rocklane Christian Church and was eager to meet others who shared her love of the Lord.

Prior to her sudden passing, she worked at Home Instead as a personal caregiver to seniors. She also worked as an activity director at a local nursing home using her compassion for people to help take care of others. Carol’s favorite job above all was being a caretaker to her grandkids, who lovingly called her mamaw. She was so proud of Savannah and Jayden always encouraging and supported them in everything they did.

When Carol wasn’t working as a caretaker to her grandbabies, she enjoyed traveling/cruising with her sister, Joyce. She loved going to Mexico and the Bahamas the most. It was always an adventure that she looked forward to. Carol loved being on the water, snorkeling and cruising.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Litten; father, Eugene Litten; brother, Steve Litten; sister, Ann Alber; twin daughter, Marsha Calbert and grandson, Landon Jay Bennett.

Carol is survived by her son, Benjamin Calbert; daughter, Marcia Bennett (David); sisters, Joyce Litten, Teresa Fittro (David); brother, Mark Litten (Margaret); grandchildren, Savannah and Jayden; nieces and nephews, Hope Kenoyer (Brian) , Stacy Hughes (Timothy) Jeff Rupp, Rebecca Bailey (Greg), Marissa Litten, Melanie Litten, Nathaneal Fittro, Rachael Gidney (Zachariah); close friend, Sandi La Vasseur and many extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held 11:00am, Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Greenwood Christian Church, 2045 Averitt Road, Greenwood, IN 46143. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service. An inurnment will take place at a later date at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her mother, Doris Litten.

Carol was a loving mother, mamaw, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
