Cecelia Fay Poe Frye, 69, of New Lisbon, Wisconsin stepped gently into heaven on June 19, 2024, at the V.A. Medical Center in Tomah, Wisconsin, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Cecelia was born in Anderson, Indiana to Mike and Betty Poe. She graduated with honors from Anderson High School in 1973, Cecelia was a Color Guard member of the Anderson High School Band, and a three-time member of the Indiana state marching bands contest. Cecelia also played the flute and oboe in the concert band. After graduating high school, she enlisted in the United States Army.
In 1978, she graduated from Enterprise State College in Enterprise, Alabama with a degree in computer science while stationed at Fort Rucker, Alabama.
Cecelia retired from the United States Army after being stationed at Fort Lee, Virginia, Fort Dix, New Jersey, Fort Drum, New York, Patton Barracks Heidelberg, Germany and Fort Rucker, Alabama.
Fay, as she was called by her family, was very talented at painting, arts and crafts; her favorite color was any shade of purple. She liked painting sunflowers and loved making homemade gifts for family and friends, these gifts usually had a touch of purple and a sunflower somewhere in her work.
On March 6, 2018, she married Dan Frye in Las Vegas, Nevada. Many weekends were spent watching her favorite race driver, her husband Dan, race his number 98 Race Car going to NASCAR races with him and rooting for her second favorite driver, Chase Elliott.
Survivors include her loving husband, Dan Frye; mother, Betty Hayes, stepfather, Gary Hayes; daughter, Cassandra (Jeff) Mayfield; sons, Benito (Carrie) Cerda-Reyes, Michael (Kari) Cerda, Jason Cerda-Reyes, Christopher (Julia) LaBeause, Courtney (Ashley) LaBeause, Clinton (Vannessa)LaBeause, Charles LaBeause; step-son DJ (Kellie) Frye; step-daughter, Kelly Frye; sister, Noxie (Curt) Byrd; brothers, Mike (Teresa) Poe, John (LeeAnn) Poe and Kevin Poe (Darlene Davis); step-sister, Kim (Dr Charles) Habekost; step-brothers, Terry and Steve (Jeri) Hayes; aunts, Kay (Dan) Wehner and Sue Shetterly; 29 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Cecelia Fay is preceded in death by her beloved father, Mike Poe Sr., sister Jayne McCord; grandmother, Frances Anderson and several aunts and uncles.
A graveside service will be held on July 2, 2024, at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery at 11:00 am with Pastor Gary Marcum officiating.
