Darry Lee "Butch" Kirkendall, 82, of Anderson, passed away on June 15, 2026, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 15, 1944, in Forest, Indiana, to his parents, Eva Mae and Orace "Shorty" Kirkendall.
Butch graduated from Clinton Central High School in 1962.
Throughout his life, he worked in a variety of professions and took pride in every role he held. Among his many positions, he managed a Waffle House, drove a truck for Snyder Transport and owned a Tobacco Barn in Indianapolis, Indiana.
An avid outdoorsman, Butch cherished time spent fishing and hunting for mushrooms. He was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and could often be found enjoying his favorite bluegrass music down at Lake Cumberland.
Butch is survived by his children, Clinton "Bud" Kirkendall, Rodney (Lona) Kirkendall, Lesa Clark, Donald (Melissa) Tabor, Brandie Drake and Misty (Matthew) Morrison; 17 grandchildren, Clinton Kirkendall Jr, Charles Angel, Eva Thrasher, Dylan Halcomb, Alan Boram, Ashley Boram, Jessica Clark, Tiffany Tabor, Dustin Tabor, Donovan Tabor, Karrington Tabor, Kimmy Milner, Matt VanBenthuysen, Madison Drake, Trucker Miller, Chloe Wilkes and Tanner Morrison; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Cindy Carter; aunt and uncle, Addie and David Chambers; best-friend, Harold Simpson; bonus son, Joe Wagner and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by wife of 26 years, Linda Kirkendall; son, James "Jim" Moore; grandson, Aaron Boram; his parents and sisters, Phyllis Wetzel and Janet Davis.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street Anderson, Indiana, 46013.
Services will follow visitation on Friday at 2:30 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Woodring officiating.
Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Landmark Baptist Church, Anderson, Indiana.
