David E. Bentley, 95, of Anderson, passed away on May 23, 2023. He was born on October 20, 1927 in Bushnell, IL, the son of Rev. Jay and Lena (Ogle) Bentley.
David served in the U.S. Navy in WW II. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, David came to Anderson to attend Anderson College.
He retired in 1987 after 37 years of service at General Motors. David was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends.
David was a member of South Meridian Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Bentley, his sons, Larry Franklin and Jeff Humble, his parents, his grandchildren, Stryder Franklin and Nicole Carter-Reese, his great-grandchild, Jordan Rummel, and his sisters, Marian Jones, Edna Fox, and Catherine Moe.
David is survived by his children, Curtis (Brenda) Bentley, Valarie (Gary) Mullins, and Karen (Jeff) Friedman; his grandchildren, Jill Angelle, Tim Carter, Trevor Green, David (Keena) Bentley, Neal Mullins, Lauren (Kris Lowe) Mullins, Lucas (Kayla) Lindley, and Samantha Friedman; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Dale Bentley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 26, 2023, from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd Street, Anderson. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Steve Wimmer officiating.
Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
