David Lee Rhorer, 77, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away peacefully, to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 17, 2024, at home surrounded by his family, following an extended illness.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a man of faith serving his Lord at Kingston Ave. Baptist Church.
He was born in Muncie, Indiana, on October 17, 1946, to Franklin E. and Virginia (Allison) Rhorer.
David attended Alexandria Monroe High School through most of his school years and graduated from Anderson High School in 1964. He served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. Later in life, he continued his education by graduating with a BA from Anderson University. David retired in 1990 from the Anderson Police Department, after 21 years of service. After working at Continental Design, Guide and the Anderson University Police Department, he retired again from Madison County Adult Probation Department in 2014.
He enjoyed riding his Harley with his friends, but most importantly he found joy in watching and supporting his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 54 years, Cheryl (McKelvey) Rhorer; daughter, Angela (Darin) Miller; grandchildren, Kaylin Wells, Ashley (James) Tremain, and Schyler Altherr, and great-grandchildren, Peyton, Logan, Jacob, and Marley Wells, Kirra and Kiara Riley, Mya and Alia Tremain. Also, surviving are his siblings, Frank (Paula) Rhorer and Frances (Greg) Wehlage; and niece, Kim.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Marie Rhorer; step-daughter, Michelle "Shelly" Gomez; and nephew, Steve Rhorer.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 21, 2024, from 11:00 - 12:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, in Anderson, IN.
Services will follow visitation at 12:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Overton and Brad Storm officiating.
Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kingston Ave. Baptist Church, Anderson.
