Listen to Obituary

Donna Leah (Durgan) Schultz, 80, New Palestine, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023. She passed peacefully with her family surrounding her. God gained an artistically brilliant angel. She was born on September 28, 1942, in Anderson, Indiana, to Harold and Alice (Herschberger) Durgan. She married her love Dennis Roger Schultz.

Donna obtained her master’s degree. She worked as a supervisor for the Department of Housing and Urban Development for many years. After she retired from the Government, she found a hobby and became passionate in making, buying, and selling jewelry. She often donated a lot of her jewelry to nursing homes. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a fun-loving, mentoring, humorous, smart and artistic woman. She loved to laugh and enjoy life to the fullest. She was known as the family historian, creating journals on various ancestors and their lives. She always had her camera on hand and tape recorder to preserve memories for her family and extended family. She painted several artwork pieces. Some of her paintings are publicly displayed, award winning, or hanging in several family and friends' homes. Her favorite places to go were Florida to hang out on the beach or going on family trips to Lake Nettie, Michigan. She loved going up river in a boat to take pictures of the lily pads and scenery for painting ideas. One of the quirky ways her family found amusing was when she would wear long black socks with sandals at the lake because she was afraid of "blood-suckers" and worms.

Donna is survived by her loving husband, Dennis Schultz, of 58 years; daughter, Candace Hunt; son, Christopher Schultz; grandsons, Alexander and Logan Hunt; granddaughter, Reese Hunt; sister, Susan Whipple; and several in-laws, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Durgan.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 5, 2023, from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 West Main Street, Greenfield, IN 46140 with the service immediately starting at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson, IN
