Dorothea Phillips

He was born March 22, 1927, in Corydon, to the late, Elijah & Carrie (Livengood) Summitt. Bud worked at Dietzen’s Bakery where he met Freda Smothers, who would become his beloved bride for over 75 years. He then went on to retire from Delco-Remy. He was an avid sports fan especially basketball and baseball, watching high school, collegiate, and professional games. Bud also loved gardening and bowling.

He is survived by his daughters, Connie Mart of Lafayette and Vicki Adams of Pendleton; four grandchildren, Amanda Jones (husband Brian) of Goodyear, AZ, David Mart (Jennifer) of Iowa City, IA, Michael Mart (wife Alicia) of Lafayette, and Emily Adams of Indianapolis; great grandchildren; Colin Mart of Iowa City, IA, Johnathan, Dominic and Cecilia Collison of Lafayette; brother, Gary (wife, Madge) Summitt; and sister-in-law, Shirley Summitt. He was preceded in death by his wife, Freda; sister, Lois; brothers, James, Robert, & Bill Summitt.

Services will be at 11:30 am Thursday at Brown Butz Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory. Burial at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 am until the time of services at the funeral home.
