Dorothy M. (Brown) German, 97, went to be with her Heavenly Father peacefully surrounded by her family at Countryside Manor on June 20, 2023, following an extended illness.
She was born on July 4, 1925, in Hamilton, Ohio to Ora P. and Tessie Mae (Palmer) Brown. She was primarily a homemaker and had worked for 20 years at various restaurants including the Key West Shrimp, Don’s BBQ and Peaches Pancake House. She also did housekeeping at the Harter House for 5 years.
She was a devout Christian and a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was the last of the original seven members of the Jolly Keenagers. She loved her family, music and enjoyed playing the guitar, singing, and decorating her home.
A special thank you to the nurses and staff at Countryside Manor and to Viaquest Hospice for all their loving care.
She is survived by her two children, Kenneth (Donna) German and Diana Brown all of Anderson; 8 grandchildren, Shelley (Jamie) Carpenter, L. Troy Brown, Dana (Larry) Michael, Lance (Heather) German, Mandy (Jeff) Hauk, Jennifer (Steve) Teague, Jay Mainord, and Tasha (Kent) Davis; 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, Ora P., and Maude Brown; her mother, Tessie Mae Brown; her husband, Edward A. German who passed away in 2000; her daughter, Nancy Mainord; her son-in-law, Larry Brown; and a brother, Sherman McQuiston.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Doug Stein officiating. A burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
The visitation will be from 10:00am -12:00pm on Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Keenagers at Grace Baptist Church in Anderson.
