Dorothy M.(Bright) Weed, 97, of Anderson, passed away on April 28, 2023, at Woodland Terrace in New Palestine, IN. She was born on November 25, 1925, in Anderson, IN the daughter of the late Raymond and Ada Bright. She resided in Anderson for most of her life. \

Dorothy was the first and youngest Nurse's Aide at St. Johns Hospital at the age of 14. After graduating from Anderson High School in 1944, she worked in the office of Guide Lamp for 10 years. She married the love of her life, Charles Eugene "Gene" Weed on October 3, 1948. She was a loving and devoted wife and a wonderful mother. She was a homemaker and after raising her children, she was a Secretary for 16 years at the Family and Children Service.
She attended the Olivet class at the First Baptist Church, was a member for over 75 years of the Anderson Chapter of Eastern Star, past member of the Home Extension club Welcome Wagoner's, and the Alpha Gamma Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Sorority. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing solitaire, but more importantly, she loved to spend time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Carol (Greg) Thomas of Greenfield, "adopted" daughter Mary Ann Thomas and several special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene (Gene), her son Stan Weed, sister Virginia Blakely and brother Jack Bright.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 12 noon- 2 pm at Loose Funeral Home & Crematory, 200 W. 53rd St, Anderson, IN 46013. With services starting at 2 pm the same day. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 50 E 91st Indianapolis, IN 46240.
