Douglas A. "Doug" Lagarde

Douglas A. “Doug” LaGarde, 71, of Anderson passed away at Ascension St. Vincent’s Anderson on August 23, 2024 following an extended illness.
He was born on January 2, 1953 in Anderson, IN to the late Lowell and Olive (Barrett) LaGarde.

He graduated from Highland High School and earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education from Ball State University. He taught elementary education at Muncie Community Schools and also taught at the Correctional Facility in Muncie. He always enjoyed teaching children.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. He loved sports, traveling to Florida and working on his rentals.
He is survived by his sister, Becky Hancock; a niece, Brooke (Shawn) Hancock-Hollen; a nephew, Mike (Tiffany) Hancock; four great nieces and nephews, Aiden Broshar, Ava Broshar, Milo Butler, and Cammy Butler; special friends, Virgil Cook, Jonathon Cook, Myra Neff, and Rick Eads.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Olive B. LaGarde.
A memorial service will be at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Ned Clark officiating. Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be from 1:00pm-2:00pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
