COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado [mdash] Eleanor Louise Hickman, age 91, a longtime resident of Madison County, died Monday, July 25, 2022, in Colorado Springs. Eleanor was born Sept. 20, 1930, in Anderson, to Omar and Mildred Gustin. After graduating from Anderson High School in 1948, she worked at Guide Lamp Division until her retirement in 1986. Eleanor married James Hickman in 1950 and raised their three children in Anderson. She attended First United Methodist Church. Eleanor enjoyed quilting and other fabric arts as well as gardening. Later in life, she spent many hours reading. Survivors include her sons, John and Steve Hickman; grandchildren, Brittany (Jake) Day plus Baxter (Autumn), Elizabeth, Spencer, Ella and Emma Hickman; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Jane (Jim) Buxton and Kathryn (Charlie) Bentley; nieces; nephews; cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Hickman; parents; son, James Hickman; and sister, Margaret Franzen. A graveside celebration will be at 1 p.m. Aug. 12 at Anderson Memorial Park.
