INDIANAPOLIS - Frank LaMont Sawyer, 48, Indianapolis, made his Transition Oct. 9, 2022. He was born Sept. 15, 1974, in Anderson, Indiana, the son of Frank and Ruth (Long) Sawyer. He graduated in 1992 from Madison Heights High School. After graduating from high school, LaMont toured with the Blue Coats Drum Corps International of Canton, Ohio, until he entered college at the University of Illinois. In his junior year at Illinois, he auditioned and was accepted into the United States Air Force Band. He toured the U.S. and finally made his home at the Yakota, Japan, Air Base, where he earned the rank of Staff Sargeant. He returned to Indiana to finish his undergrad with a B.S. degree in music performance and education at Ball State University in 2005. He was a professional musician and played with the Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra and around Indianapolis and surrounding areas. LaMont professed his Christianity at an early age. He was a member of New Revelation Christian Church and later Pasadena Heights Church of God. He loved serving both churches in the music ministry. LaMont is survived by his daughter LaMya Desiree Sawyer, of Indianapolis; his parents, Frank and Ruth Sawyer; sister and brother-in-law Beverly and Edward Vance, and nieces Victoria (Tori) and Gabrielle, all of Fishers. Also surviving are a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon respectively, on Tuesday at New Revelation Christian Church, 6701 Oaklandon Road, Indianapolis, IN 46236 with Reverend Richard Reynolds officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Stuart Mortuary, Inc.
