Fredric T. Gates, 79, of Anderson, passed away on January 14, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on October 7, 1936 in Marmet, West Virginia to Charles and Alma Gates, and resided most of his life in Anderson.
Fredric graduated from East Bank High School in West Virginia in 1954. He served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War.
He worked for Guide Lamp Division of General Motors as a skilled trade pipe fitter, and retired after 32 years of service. Fredric owned and operated Fred's Shed Package Liquor Store in Middletown for 28 years.
He was a 50 year member of Fellowship Lodge #681, Madison County Shrine Club, and the UAW #663.
Fredric is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Glenda L. (Blades) Gates; children, Gregory A. (Ray Ann) Gates of Foristell, MO, Kimberly L. Gates-Tisdale of Pendleton, and Lori A. Gates of Anderson; grandchildren, Tucker A. Gates and Hannah L. Tisdale; and siblings, Judy (Wayne) Davis and Charles "Rick" (Joyce) Gates. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Barbara Brake and Shirley Stapleton.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2016, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St. Anderson, IN. A Masonic service will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday.
Services will be Wednesday, January 20, 2016, 11:30 am at the funeral home with Rev. Marty Ballard officiating.
Military rites will be provided by the US Marines and VFW Post 266.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, National Kidney Foundation of Indiana, or the American Diabetes Association.
