Gary Lee Clifton, 76, of Pendleton, passed away suddenly following an extended illness on January 12, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Anderson. He was born on March 10, 1947, in Muncie, Indiana.
Gary graduated from Anderson High School and proudly served his country in the US Army. He was very involved in his daughter's lives, through their sporting careers, especially coaching their softball teams, and continued his support of his grandchildren's sporting endeavors.
He retired from General Motors. He was a member of the Madison County Shrine Club where he had been President and active in the Desert Patrol, and Pendleton Masonic Lodge # 44 F. & A.M. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had been a reserve Pendleton Police Officer and served as Building Commissioner.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Susan Clifton; daughters, Kimberly (Westley) Baker, and Stephanie Kintner; grandchildren, Brian (Audrey) Catellier, Brady Trump, Madison Trump, Hunter (Lexi) Kingery, Paige Kingery, great-granddaughter, Sage Catellier; special lifelong friends, Bob and Yvonne Green.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon L. and Dolores V. Clifton; great-grandson, Cooper Jayce-Allen Kingery; and brother, Richard Clifton.
Graveside services will be on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Robert Green officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital.
