Gloria D. Yancey

Gloria Dawn Yancey, 87, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. She was born on June 30, 1939, in Little Rock, Arkansas.

She graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She met and later married Jerry Yancey April 10, 1959 and they re-located in Shelbyville, Indiana in 1965. She was so blessed to have the opportunity to be at home taking care of her family.

She enjoyed sewing, specially making quilts for her family.

Survivors include her 4 children, son Michael (Linda) Yancey, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, daughters Cynthia (Randy) Johnson, Brookville, IN, Victoria (John) Dice, Centerville, IN, Julia (Wes) Rigdon, Indianapolis, IN, 9 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Yancey who passed in 1994 and her parents Harold and Dollie Field.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 13, 2026, from 10:00am – 11:00am at Thompson Road Baptist Church, 1700 E. Thompson Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227 with the funeral service at 11:00am with Pastor Emeritus Anthony Slutz officiating. She will be laid to rest with a private family burial in Anderson Memorial Park, Anderson, IN.
