Helen M. Kreps, 98, of Muncie, Indiana, peacefully passed away on March 28, 2025, and went home to be with the Lord. She was born on February 16, 1927, in Glendale, West Virginia, to Ralph and Lucille (Poole) Brown.
Helen had a lifelong passion for music, both as a singer and as an pianist. Her music was legendary and will forever be missed by those who heard her play. She loved planting flowers and was an active musician for the Ladies Trio and the Men’s Quartet, “Son’s of God.” As a dedicated elementary school teacher since 1968, she inspired countless students with her love for learning. Her musical talents, recorded by her son, have reached thousands, with one of her recordings now shared in a Facebook group of 13,000 followers. Helen’s faith in Jesus was a cornerstone of her life. She grew up as the daughter of pastors in the Church of God.
Helen is survived by her loving children: Steve Kreps, Mary Rollins, Mark Kreps (Janet), and Andy Kreps (Kim); grandchildren: Marlon Rollins, Ambrosia Williams, Jason Kreps, Krystal Hill (Chase), Jeremy Kreps (Joyce), and AJ Kreps (Kaitlynn); and great-grandchildren: Elijah Kreps, Isaac Williams, Collin Kreps, Isis Williams, Kenna Kreps, Caedeebeth Hill, Autumn Hill, Kadasiah Rollins, Baby Hill and Baby Kreps. She also leaves behind her great-great-granddaughter, Amelia Rodriguez.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother George Dale Brown, her granddaughter Amber Rose Rollins, and her beloved husband, Richard Oliver Kreps.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the service at 9:30 a.m. The service will be officiated by Ambrosia Williams, and a graveside service will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. The family requests wearing bright colors to celebrate a wonderful, long life.
