Houston Crawford was born on February 26, 1926, in Lambert, Mississippi. Houston served in the U.S. Army. He retired from James H. Drew Construction Company, where he worked for 34 years.

Houston was affectionately known as “Cat” by his family and friends. Cat loved gardening and mowing the lawn. He enjoyed watching wrestling and different game shows. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his step-great grandchild Sema’J.

Houston departed this life, on January 14, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and three sisters.

Houston leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife: Linzie Gene Beck-Crawford of Anderson, IN; brother: William Crawford of Marks, Mississippi; four step-children: Darlene(Pastor Hue) Guy; Randy(Stacy) Beck and Marlene Beck all of Anderson, IN; and Mark(Amanda) Beck of Muncie; special cousin: Ethel Stewart; 15 step-grandchildren; 20 step-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly.

Services will be held Saturday, January 28, at New Birth Worship Center, 403 West 2nd St. Anderson, IN. Visitation will be two hours prior to service. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Masks will be required.
