It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Albert Freeman, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, on Oct. 25, 2023.
Born on Dec. 4, 1938, in Bloomington, Indiana, the son of James Andrew Freeman and Ruth Leona (Ashton) Freeman, James lived a vibrant life of 84 years, touching the lives of countless individuals with his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering spirit.
James worked for the General Motors Corporation at the Guide Lamp/Fisher Guide plant in Anderson, Indiana, from 1963 until his retirement in 1999.
James was also a member of the Freemason Lodge in Muncie, Indiana, for over 50 years. After his retirement, James and his wife continued to live in Anderson while spending part of the year in the Tampa, Florida area.
James is survived by his wife, Suzanne Morris Schenck Freeman; his children, Lynly Ann Horine (John) of Lafayette, Indiana, Bryan Jacob Sirtosky of Bloomington, Indiana, and Joyce Freeman Cambas (Frank) of Covington, Louisiana; his grandchildren, George Horine (Stephanie), Jonathan Horine (Betsy), Jennifer Horine, Liam Cambas, and Lilly Cambas; and his great-grandchildren, Jack, Violet, Henry, and Miles Horine.
He is also survived by his brothers, Richard Freeman (Susie) of Daleville, Indiana, Michael Freeman (Marcy) of Hood River, Oregon, Jeffrey Freeman (Denice) of Land O Lakes, Florida, and Craig Freeman (Diane) of Leesburg, Florida; as well as other extended family members. James was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Timothy Freeman (Pam) and Todd Freeman.
A memorial service to celebrate James' life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, at Congress Street United Methodist Church in Lafayette, Indiana.
E. J. Fielding Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Freeman.
