James served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War.
He worked as a carpenter for himself alongside his father and brothers for over 45 years. He also drove a semi/tractor-trailer periodically over the years.
James enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
James is survived by his children, James (Kristine) Pitts, II, Brandy (Brian) Stackhouse, Carrie Pitts, and Daniel Penticuff; daughter-in-law, Kim Pitts; grandchildren, Tripp Pitts, Finley Pitts, Maverick Pitts, Logan Lazzell, Jacob Lazzell, Alexa Day, Bradly Burkman, Breanna Burkman, Jackson Penticuff, Makenzie Penticuff, Landen Penticuff, and Silas Van Horn, and several great-grandchildren; siblings, Steven (Dawn) Pitts, Vick (Jack) Dodson, Rick (Angie) Pitts, Karen Butler, and Jack Pitts, Jr; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Dorothy Pitts.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 4:00 pm- 7:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson, IN 46013.
Services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at 11:30 am at the funeral home with Rev. Steve Pitts and Pastor Jerry Hilligoss officiating.
Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
