Jean Ann "Jeannie" (Janney) Carpenter, 81, of Anderson, passed away on June 26, 2026 at Sugar Fork Crossing in Anderson.

She was born on September 11, 1944 in Anderson, the daughter of Fred and Bernice (Baker) Janney. She was a graduate of Anderson High School and had worked in secretarial positions, most recently for Bee Distributors- Car Bright.

Jeannie had attended the River church in Lapel for several years, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and traveling, doing puzzles and shopping.

She is survived by her children; James (Tina) Carpenter and Jennifer (Jerry) Muterspaugh; grandchildren, Kyle Logan, DJ (Annie) Carpenter, Austin Carpenter, Kerri Kimm, Jenny (John) Rush, Kie Kimm, Faith Muterspaugh, Kayla Muterspaugh; great grandchildren Jordon (Lexi) Driffill, Jerron Kimm, Kingston Carpenter, Karson Carpenter, Oakleigh Carpenter, Charleigh Jean Carpenter; great great grandchildren, Jayce Driffill, Kaycen Driffill, Rhett Driffill; sister, Norma Bonisa; three brothers-in-laws, Carl (Karen) Carpenter, John Carpenter and Jerry Spaulding; several nieces and nephews including two special nieces Kim and Thea, who helped with her care.

Jeannie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Carpenter, whom she married July 5, 1963; her parents, her sister Ellen Spaulding, three nephews Ted Funk, Carl "Butch" Carpenter and Steve Johnson; two sisters-in-law Joyce Fosnot and Linda Manis.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service officiated by Melissa Chandler.

Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to IU Health Alzheimer's research.
