Listen to Obituary
Jerry E. Alumbaugh, 84, arrived in Heaven in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 18, 2023. He was born September 10, 1938, in Elwood, to the late William Frederick Alumbaugh and Beulah Julia (Oyster) Alumbaugh. Jerry was the seventh of ten children.

Jerry graduated in 1956 from Wendell Wilke High School in Elwood. He learned the sheet metal trade during his childhood and teen years, while helping his father with his father’s sheet metal business.

On June 10, 1960, he married Janet K. (Schweitzer) Alumbaugh. She predeceased him on September 2, 1992. Jerry served in the U.S. Army, from 1962 to 1964, working on the Nike Hercules missiles. Together, Janet and Jerry raised three loving children.

On January 17, 1995, he married his second wife, Karen “Kay” L. (Caudle) Alumbaugh. They were married for 28 years and enjoyed spending their retirement years together.

Jerry worked for Sheet Metal Workers Local 20 for over 40 years. He had a quick wit, contagious laugh, an ornery sense of humor, and loved bantering with his grandchildren. He enjoyed eating ice cream, fishing, boating, tinkering in his workshop, playing euchre, and working outdoors. He loved his children and grandchildren tremendously and taught them the importance of spending time together, having a good work ethic, and laughter is the best medicine. He leaves to cherish is memory, wife, Kay; his children, Amanda (Brian) Brown of Anderson, Lisa (Tim) Johnson of Noblesville, Jim (Wendy) Alumbaugh of Anderson, and Troy (Jennifer) Martin of Georgia; grandchildren, Victoria Brown (fiancé Isaiah Carrell), Alexa Johnson (fiancé Edward Cai), Dakotah Alumbaugh, Lydia Johnson, Landon Alumbaugh, Holly (Jacob) Nave, Preston Martin, and Katt Martin. He is also survived by one brother, two sisters, several nieces and nephews, and many brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service on Monday, April 24, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will take place the same day from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
