Jimmy Dale "Jim" Lester

Jimmy Dale “Jim” Lester, 81, of Anderson passed away on May 5, 2026 at his home following an extended illness.

He was born on September 26, 1944 in Medora, Indiana to the late Otto and Lillian (Murray) Lester. He graduated from Madison Heights High School in the class of 1962.

He served in the US Navy from 1962-1966. He married Cecelia Duckworth on November 9, 1968.

He worked production at Delco Remy for 30 years and retired on March 31, 1996. He was a member of the UAW 662.

He attended at Cross Roads Global Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, watching college football and basketball, racing and gardening. He always had a huge vegetable garden every year at his home.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cecelia (Duckworth) Lester of Anderson; a son, Roger Dale Lester of Seymour, IN; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Martha J. Lester, Kathryn Shelton, Bertha Stratton Hill, Emmett Lester, and Dos Lester.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Cross Roads Global Methodist Church with Pastor Shannon Rogers officiating. The burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites.

Visitation will be from 4:00pm-6:00pm on Monday, May 11, 2026 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service and from 10:00am-11:00am on Tuesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be given to Riley Children’s Hospital or Cross Roads Global Methodist Church.
