Joan Baker

Joan (Kauffman) Baker, 94, of Anderson passed away on October 22, 2023 at Community Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness.

She was born on June 16, 1929 in Cedar Falls, Iowa to Edward and Martha (Oakerson) Kauffman. She graduated from Anderson High School in the Class of 1946. She was primarily a homemaker and worked part-time at the Harter House.

She was a former member of Bethany Christian Church. She loved her grandchildren, enjoyed playing cards, working crossword puzzles, gardening and flowers, watching and feeding hummingbirds, and baking. She was well known in her family for her chocolate chip cookies and cherry delight.

She is survived by her three children, Joyce (Rex) Becraft of Anderson, Marsha (Stan) Ellis of Monticello, IL and John Baker of Indianapolis; a daughter-in-law, Robbin Baker of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hugo Baker in 2001 and six siblings.

The family would like to thank Primrose Memory Care for all of their loving care.

A funeral service will be at 1:00pm on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Jerome Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00am-1:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer’s Association.
