Joe E. Vaughn, 96, of Greenwood, went to be with his Lord on April 2, 2026.
Joe was born on June 3, 1929 in Monterey Tennessee to the late Laborn Vaughn and Fannie (Harris) Vaughn. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Joe lived a life marked by love, faith and compassion for others.
Joe married the love of his life, Edna Phillips on August 28, 1959 and were blessed with one son, Bryan. They enjoyed 54 years together before she went to heaven in March of 2013.
Joe moved from Tennessee to Indiana to take a job at General Motors Corp. where he was employed for over 30 years.
He was a long time member of the East 38th Street Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. His greatest joy was serving his Lord and that he did well. Anyone that knew Joe knew how much he loved Jesus.
Joe leaves behind to treasure his memory his daughter-in-law, Amy Vaughn, his brother Bedford Vaughn of Monterey TN, his 6 grandchildren: Jamie Marocco (Anthony), Jodi Lash, Kristin Sauer (Bryan), Amy Vaughn, Eric Vaughn (Nicole), Jason Brown (Emily) and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edna Vaughn and son Bryan Vaughn.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 30, 2026 at LifePoint Church, 8540 Combs Rd., Indianapolis, IN. at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are welcome to attend and share in the remembrance of Joe’s life.
Because of Joe’s love of children, the family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Saint Judes Children’s Hospital in Joe’s memory.
G. H. Herrmann Funeral Home and Cremation Center at the Gardens of Olive Branch, Greenwood, IN is honored to assist with arrangements.
Joe will be laid to rest next to his wife in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
