MUNCIE – John A. Cooper, 74, passed away early Wednesday morning, August 20, 2025 at his home.

He was born on July 18, 1951 in Anderson, the son of Robert A. and June (Clements) Cooper and graduated from Indiana School for the Deaf in 1970. He married Mary A. Carter on November 22, 1997.

John worked for Denny’s Flooring in Anderson for 37 years and was a member of Madison County Deaf Club (MCDC).

He enjoyed cars, especially his 1949 Mercury and woodworking. John made beautiful pieces of furniture and the bingo board for MCDC.

Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Mary A. Cooper of Muncie; one daughter, Carla L. Cooper of Muncie; one sister, Beth Butler (husband, Bob) of Muncie; two step-children, Kimberly M. Neff of Columbus, OH and Kelly Neff of Westerville, OH; two step-grandchildren; one nephew, Jeremy Butler of Winchester; and his best friend, Myron Huber of Mooreland, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and June Cooper.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will be held at Anderson Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025.

Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025.
