Laura Belle Hudson, 96, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, at Wyndmoor of Castleton in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on March 17, 1930, in Pendleton, Indiana, to her parents, Inez and Elmer Davidson.
Laura Belle graduated from Pendleton High School, class of 1948. All through her high school years she worked as a telephone switchboard operator. She worked as a homemaker for 43 years while also working for a time with Farm Bureau Insurance.
She was a member of Odd Fellows Rebekah Lodge, Redbud Quilt Guild, and St. Matthews Methodist Church.
Laura Belle loved crafts of all types. Throughout the years she was involved in leatherwork, ceramics, knitting, liquid embroidery, woodworking, sewing, quilting and embroidery. She was always at a craft show selling her goods or could be found working in her wood shop or sewing room making more items to sell for the next show. She also exhibited at the Indiana State Fair often. Her fondest memory was winning Best of Show for a four-foot-tall fretwork clock that she made on her scroll saw.
She also loved the outdoors. Gardening and fishing were her passions when her health allowed. She and her husband Jim loved spending time at their property at Lake Dale Hollow where she always had a fishing pole in hand.
She never met a stranger and was loved by many. Whenever you talked with someone who she met, they would say that she was such a sweetheart. She will be dearly missed.
Laura Belle is survived by her son, Eric (Vickie) Hudson; grandchildren, Courtney Hudson and Aaron (Stacey) Hudson; great-grandchildren, Nathan Burke and Arthur Hudson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, James E. "Jim" Hudson; her parents, Inez and Elmer Davidson and two sisters, Dorris Jarvis and Jewel Jacobs.
Laura Belle's family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Wyndmoor of Castleton and Luminary Hospice for the exceptional care, kindness and support you provided to Laura Belle and our family over the years. Your compassion, dedication, and comfort meant more to us than words can express. We will always be grateful.
