He was born June 18, 1931, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late, Victor Joseph & Corrine E. (Hoppinjon) Jackey. Leo was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean War, where he received a Purple Heart for his efforts in the Battle of Chosin Reservoir.
Leo retired from Delco-Remy after 37 years and was also known as roofer & builder when not at the factory. When not working he was playing horseshoes or was active as Union Official for U.A.W. #662. Leo was also an avid chess player having ranked in several tournaments.
He is survived by his children, Danny (wife, DeeAnn) Jackey, David Charles Jackey, Paul Leo (wife, Sheila) Jackey, Robert “Bobby” Jackey, and Mickie A. (wife, Judith Burks-Jackey) Jackey; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, & great-great grandchildren. He was preceded by his son, Dennis Jackey.
Graveside services will be at 1pm Monday at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors.
Arrangements were entrusted to Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory.
