Linda Jean Byrne

Linda Jean Byrne (née Kirchenbauer) passed away peacefully at home in Westfield, Indiana on July 25, 2026. She was born on August 15, 1947, in Anderson, Indiana, to parents, Harry Kirchenbauer and Juanita (Swain) Kirchenbauer.

After obtaining her GED, Linda dedicated herself to a life of hard work and service in several professions. Linda worked diligently at Federal Mogal for seven years and then twelve years at IMMI, helping to manufacture seatbelts for buses. For her last profession, she spent 12 years as an optometrist’s assistant at the Walmart Vision Center in Noblesville, until her retirement in 2020.

On February 27, 1965, Linda married the love of her life, Lee Byrne, at Anderson Meridian St. Church of God. Their union, though far too brief, brought great joy and fulfillment. After Lee’s passing on September 17, 1974, Linda’s strength and unwavering love for her family helped guide her through the years that followed.

She delighted in being a wife, mother, grandmother and a great-grandmother, treasuring every moment spent with her growing family. Anyone who knew Linda quickly became aware of her abiding love for her family and for her two cats, Wally and Butterscotch, who brought her companionship and joy.

Linda also had a zest for life that shone through her hobbies and interests; she was an avid bowler, enjoyed lively games of Euker with her card club, loved to write, and seldom missed an episode of her favorite television show, “Young and The Restless.”

Linda will be remembered by her children, Robert (Diane) Byrne; Vicki (Bob) Basey; John Byrne; brother Harry (Maureen) Kirchenbauer; 4 grandchildren, 4 step grandsons, 10 great-grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Amye Byrne Blaylock; sister Patty Jo Miller and her parents.

Visitation for Linda will be from 3:00pm-4:30pm on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park (Prairie Waters) – 4180 Westfield Rd., Westfield, IN 46062, with a funeral service immediately following at 4:30pm. Burial will take place at a later date at Anderson Memorial Cemetery.
