Lloyd Wesley Eskew, 93, of Anderson, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024. He lost
his beloved wife of 73 years just 50 days prior. He was born on July 29, 1931 in Anderson, and
lived a life filled with love, creativity, and service.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Lloyd was stationed in Alaska during the Korean
conflict. After his military service, he dedicated his career to the Delco-Remy factory. However,
his true passion lay in his artistic pursuits. Lloyd was a skilled artist who delighted in creating
opportunities to bring joy to others through his work, gifting many pieces to friends and family.
With his brother Don and son-in-law Jim, he frequented local craft fairs to share his
woodworking and painting talents with the community.
Known for his gift of storytelling, Lloyd often regaled friends and family with tales of his
mischievous childhood adventures. His sharp memory and ability to weave narratives brought
laughter and warmth to those around him, even in his final days.
Lloyd came to know the Lord later in his life, but his faith profoundly impacted his final years. He
was an active member of Ovid Community Church and enjoyed attending service every Sunday
with his wife.
He loved to keep his mind active with books, documentaries, and puzzles. Even in his last week
of life, he kept a novel and a word search on his bedside table.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife Robertine “Tiny” (VanMatre), who passed away on
August 3, 2024 and their son, Tony, who passed away in 1989. Lloyd is survived by his children
Debbie (Jim) Abbott and Randy (Emily) Eskew and was a treasured grandfather to Josh (Holli)
Funk, Nick Abbott, Alissa (Tyler) Prater, Jessie Eskew, and Nellie (Bryce) Crocker. He also took
great pride in his role as a great-grandfather to Aiden and Levi Funk, Sydney, Sylas, and
Shyann Abbott, and Nori, Henry, and Hudson Prater, and as a great-great grandfather to Jasiah
and Jeremiah.
Lloyd was the last surviving member of his immediate family, including his parents Enos and
Winifred (Gray) and siblings Keith, Don, Jim, Delores Hackleman, and Betty Cates.
Lloyd's legacy of creativity, faith, storytelling, and family devotion will be remembered fondly by
all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
