Lynn Anne Kennard, 77, of Carthage, IL, formally of Anderson, passed away on May 24, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Carthage. She was born on July 10, 1946, in Anderson, Indiana, where she resided most of her life.

Lynn graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1964. She enjoyed going to the basketball games for many years after she graduated supporting her Pirates.

She met Lloyd when she was 14 and they married the fall after she graduated high school. She was a homemaker for many years, then decided to go back to school to become an LPN. Lynn worked for both St. John’s and Community Hospital in Anderson for several years.

She was a member of The First United Methodist Church, spending many hours volunteering in the Church office and the Helping Hands non-food pantry. Her love of serving others also extended to the sorority she belonged to Sigma Beta sorority who’s mission it was to look for the “How can I help or What can I give?” Lynn loved spending time with her fellow sorority sisters and worked many hours fundraising for worthy causes.

In her spare time, Lynn loved to sew and crochet. She belonged to the Morning Star Smocking club and made many outfits for her grandchildren and won several ribbons for the clothing she submitted to the Indiana State Fair. She had a favorite afghan she loved to crochet and most if not all of her children and grandchildren were recipients of an afghan made from their favorite colors. Lynn was also an avid reader and could easily read 20 books a month. She loved watching Jeopardy and could generally answer many of the questions.

Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Lynn is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Lloyd Kennard; children, Dawn (Chadley) Owren of IL and Michael (Denise) Kennard of Saint Cloud, FL; grandchildren, Melinda Klamer, Mackenzie (Whalen) Nichols, Mak Kennard, Andrew Fleeman, Zachary Kennard, Chelsea (Eric) Owren, Sarah Boyle, Justin Boyle, Dean Boyle, and Joseph Smith; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Klamer, Kennedy, Adelyn and Andrew Nichols, Sophie Kennard, Erik, Raiden and Riley Owren. Lynn was also blessed with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley and Lois Rariden; sister, Sheryl Rariden; and grandchildren, Cory and Brittany Smith.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, 10:30 am - 11:30 am, at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory.

Services will follow visitation at 11:30 am the funeral home with Rev. Corinne Boruff officiating.

Burial will take place in the Anderson Memorial Park following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Memorial Hospital Foundation in Carthage, IL or First United Methodist Church in Anderson, IN.
