Marcia Ellen (Neff) Schwan, 84, of Elmhurst and formerly of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Marcia was born on December 15, 1941, in Anderson, Indiana, to Bruce and Madonna Neff. Shortly after graduating from Anderson High School, she began working and met her soon-to-be husband, Jerry. Marcia and Jerry were married in Anderson on May 6, 1962, and began their life together in Chicago. After moving to Morton Grove, they welcomed two sons, Wade and Neil. In 1976, the family settled in Crystal Lake, where they built lasting friendships and deep community ties.
Marcia devoted herself to her home and family and was a dedicated volunteer in the community. She was actively involved with the Crystal Lake Historical Society, helping preserve local landmarks, including the Dole Mansion and the Colonel Palmer House. She also loved traveling and especially treasured time spent at the family lake cottage, where she created lasting memories with loved ones.
Known for her warmth, kindness, and selfless spirit, Marcia made those around her feel valued and loved. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Jerry. She is survived by her sisters, JoAnn Stoops and Karen Wulle; her sons, Wade (Allison) Schwan and Neil (Donna) Schwan; her grandchildren, Caleb, Cora, Anna, Ruby, Garrett, Tyler, and Arielle; her great-granddaughter, Alayah; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A visitation will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Yorkfield Presbyterian Church, 1099 S. York Road, Elmhurst, Illinois.
