Martha L. (Elliott) Passwater, 103, of Anderson passed away at her home on October 7, 2026, following a brief illness.
She was born on May 27, 1923, in New Castle, IN to the late Rupert and Harriett (White) Elliott. She graduated from Middletown High School. She was the secretary at Chesterfield Christian Church from 1964-2004.
She was a member of Chesterfield Christian Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Martha Circle. She loved playing golf and was a member of both Valley View and Grandview Ladies Golf Leagues. She was known by her golf girls as “Lil Bubba.” She had a hole-in-one at Sunblest Golf Course in Fishers, Indiana on July 14, 1989. She played golf up until she was one hundred years old. She has a brick at the PGA Hall of Fame in St. Augustine, FL. She was a member of the Victoria Guild and the Isabel Harter Society. She enjoyed reading, traveling, crocheting, and doing puzzles.
She is survived by her daughter, Ginger (Jim) Alexander of Anderson; a son-in-law, Tom Bale of The Villages, FL; two grandchildren, Janet (Sidney) Newsom of Bradenton, FL and Steve (Julie) Alexander of Yorktown; four great-grandchildren, Pearson (Marquez) Winston of Anderson; Ellie Alexander, Lea Alexander, and Maria Alexander all of Yorktown; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Passwater in 1995; her daughter, Teresa Sue Bale; a grandson, Tyler Bale; one great-great grandson, Maxwell Winston; three sisters and a brother.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Ned Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00am-1:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to Chesterfield Christian Church.
