Mary R. Crose

Mary Rheabelle Crose, 89, formerly of Anderson, passed away on September 27, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on August 12, 1937 in Anderson to the late Jennings Howard and Catherine Marie (Alexander) Ashby. She married the love of her life, Glenis A. Crose, and the two were married for 50 years before his passing in 2004.

Mary found her spiritual home at Main Street Church of God and had been a faithful member for over 63 years. A true caretaker at heart, Mary loved taking care of people and was affectionately known as the "neighborhood mom", no matter where she was. She was a phenomenal cook and baker, most famously known for her pies. She spent her entire life perfecting her pie crust recipe!

Mary had a little ornery streak and enjoyed pulling pranks and teasing those around her. Always one to make others laugh, Mary was always quick with a smile and a laugh. Her joyful nature was infectious and people enjoyed being around her.

She loved playing "Aggravation" and was an elite player. She did not mess around when it came to that game! Most importantly though, Mary loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Left to cherish her memories is her daughter, Debbie Stout; grandchildren, Erin (Kris Cross) Stout and Nathaniel (Kelli) Stout; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh (Abbey Collins) Downey and Fischer Stout; sister, Judy Skinner; daughters-in-law, Betty Crose and Deb (Jerome) Hettle; furbaby, Joybelles; and her numerous neighborhood families, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenis; son, Glen Crose; daughter, Cathy Crose; grandson, Colin Crose; son-in-law, Don Stout; and siblings, Virginia Thomas, Leora Pierce, Raymond Ashby, Marvin Ashby, Max Ashby, Michael Ashby, and Herbert Ashby.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be gifted to Main Street Church of God, 4211 Main Street, Anderson, IN, 46013, or St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Main Street Church of God, 4211 Main St, Anderson, IN 46013. A funeral service will happen on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the church. She will be laid to rest at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Pastor Carl Stagner and Pastor Don Billey will be officiating. Mary's services have been entrusted to Bozell Funeral Homes and Crematory- Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel.
