Mary L. Phillips, 86, of Middletown, passed away on March 26, 2025, following a brief illness. She was born in Findlay, Ohio on June 14, 1938, to Laurel "Jack" and Esther Persing.

She graduated from Anderson High School.

Mary married Bruce Phillips in 1956, who passed in 2012 after 56 years of marriage.


Survivors include a daughter, Laura (Carl) Bratton, Gaston IN, a son Gary (Mary Gay) Phillips, New Roads LA; sister, Susie Powell, Fairland IN: grandchildren, David (Lynde) Bratton, Muncie IN, Michael (Sara) Bratton, St Joseph MO, Virginia (Steve) Brown, New Roads LA, Alexandra Phillips (Vince): great-grandchildren Riley Bratton, Cooper Bratton, Alexa Bratton, Porter Brown, Max Brown, Brooks Brown, and several cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Phillips; her parents, brother Thomas (Petey) Persing, grandson, Gregory Phillips, brother-in-law, Richard Powell, and special friend John Kantner.

Mary loved her family and Jesus above all. She and Bruce were huge fans of anything involving their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They could be seen at every game, match, or school event. And, when Mary couldn’t attend she watched on her IPad or asked for videos. She also enjoyed selling her amazing crafts at shows all around east central Indiana, gardening, and family get-togethers. Mary loved her cards and wouldn’t miss the weekly card parties with her friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, April 4, 2025, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd St. Anderson, IN.

Services will be on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the funeral home followed by burial in Anderson Memorial Park.
