Lynell Van Winkle passed away peacefully on Jan. 7, 2022, in Anderson. She was born in Alabama to the late Lewis and Gertie (Williamson) Kugler. She was a graduate of Anderson High School. Lynell worked various jobs throughout her lifetime and retired as a receptionist for Dr. William Kopp. She was a member of East Lynn Christian Church and the Anderson American Legion #127. She loved wintering in Florida, taking care of her flower garden, shopping and playing cards, especially euchre, with her friends. She loved to cook and entertain at her home, especially at Christmas time. Her Christmas day (evening) parties were attended by many throughout the years and will be greatly missed. She was married for 58 years to Gordon G. Van Winkle, who preceded her in death in 2011. She was also preceded in death by her oldest son, Michael Van Winkle. Lynell is survived by her children, Patrick Van Winkle and Chris (wife, Joell) Van Winkle; daughters-in-law, Wilma Van Winkle and Jodi Van Winkle; grandchildren, Ryan Van Winkle, Kati (husband, Justin) Hobbs, Chad Van Winkle, Lauren (husband, Adam) Maze, Amy Van Winkle, Madison Van Winkle and Sam Van Winkle; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Saturday, Jan. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with funeral services starting at 1 p.m. at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013, with Pastor Steve Defields Gambrel officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. The service will be streamed online through Facebook via the link on the Brown-Butz-Diedring obituary website.
