Michael J. Janes

Michael Jesse Janes, 72, of Anderson, passed away on August 21, 2026, at the Community Hospital in Anderson. He was born on May 23, 1954, in Anderson, Indiana, the son of Hildred and Jane Janes.

Mike graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1972. Mike was a member of the wrestling and football teams.

He worked for General Motors and retired after 17 years of service.

He was an avid euchre player and played regularly at the Chapter House, where he had many friends. Mike was also a huge NASCAR, Yankees, and Indianapolis Colts fan. He enjoyed watching all sports.

Mike will be remembered for overcoming his own struggles and dedicating much of his life afterward to helping others find the same path to recovery and a better life. He spent many years volunteering with local recovery programs, offering support and encouragement to those just beginning their own journey.

Mike is survived by his brother, Gary (Jean) Janes and their children, Austin (Hope) and Ashley (Jimmy); daughters, Tricia (Jeff) Clarkson, Amy (Andrew) Darlington, and Julie (Bill ) Hutton. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Madison Frank, Sydney (Jacob) Cacek, Sara Darlington, Sami (Noah) Jones, Karlie Hutton, Drew Darlington, Gavin Hutton, and Jake Clarkson; and 5 great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hildred and Jane Janes.

Cremation will take place, and a graveside service will be held at a later date at Anderson Memorial Park.
