Minta Jean Upton

Minta Jean "Jeanie" Upton, 82, of Anderson passed away on October 7, 2025 at her home following a year long illness.

She was born on April 11, 1943 in Anderson, IN to Harold and Isa Dora (Brumback) Gustin. She graduated from Anderson High School and from Indiana Business College.

She worked in production at Guide Lamp for 30 years. Following her retirement, she was a substitute teacher for 10 years at different school systems in Madison County.

She enjoyed playing in her euchre and bridge clubs, Heart Sisters, playing the organ and piano, dancing, reading, and working crossword puzzles. She taught yoga for many years.

She is survived by her three sons, Russell Petty of Byrdstown, TN; Daniel Petty of Anderson; and Eric (wife, Melanie Hayes) Petty of Sarasota, FL; four grandchildren, Jane Walbridge of Daleville, Stormy June Gilbert of Anderson, Holly Petty of Noblesville, and Colette Petty of Florida; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her three husbands, Jack Petty, Lee Gilbert, and Ronald Upton; a daughter, Barbara Jane Petty; a son, Mark Douglas Petty; and three siblings, Richard Gustin, Bud Gustin and Fig Gustin.

Funeral service will be at 1:00pm on Monday, October 13, 2025 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Ned Clark officiating. Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00am-1:00pm on Monday at the funeral home.
