Orla Edward Rosenbarger, 87, born on October 19, 1936, in Anderson, Indiana, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2024 with hospice care in Sebring, Florida surrounded by his loving family.
Orla is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Rowene and son, Reid O Rosenbarger (Michael Gully) of Winter Park, Florida and wife of Neil, Therese (Gatton) Rosenbarger of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Orla was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Rosenbarger and Helen (Etchison) Orbik, as well as his son, Neil R Rosenbarger.
Orla was a proud grandfather to two grandchildren, Drew and Mallory Rosenbarger and three great grandchildren, Hudson Rosenbarger, Ada and Neil Lee Rosenbarger. Orla worked 42 years as a Forman for the city of Anderson Water Department.
In addition to his professional career, he was a proud member of the VFW and served honorably as part of the Honor Guard. Orla was also a faithful member of Edgewood Baptist Church. He and his wife spent the winter months in Sebring, Florida since 2013.
He had a passion for sports, especially the Indiana Hoosiers and Indianapolis Colts. He was a 42-year season ticket holder for the Anderson Indians basketball team. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and enjoyed hiking the Smoky Mountains.
Orla’s most cherished moments were spent with his grandchildren. In honor of commitment to service, we recognize that Orla served his country as a member of the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Bay of Pigs.
Orla will be deeply missed by his family and friends and will be remembered at a memorial service at a later date.
