Paula Joyce Savage

Paula passed from this life on early Friday morning May 17, at home in the care of her family.

Paula was born in Anderson on October 9, 1931, to Uyless Melvin and Thelma (Donovan) Perry. She lived in Anderson her entire life. Paula graduated from Anderson High School in 1949. Thereafter she attended St John’s Nursing School, obtaining her RN, and meeting her lifelong friends JoAnne Dent (later James) and Mary Ireland (later Dunbar).

On February 7, 1953, Paula married Jack Savage. They were inseparable until his death in October 2012. Paula was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Melvin, and sister, Juanita. Paula leaves behind a loving family: son, Jeff (Columbia, TN), daughter, Nancy (Indianapolis), daughter-in-law, Diane, grandchildren, Austin Savage, Sheree Savage, Nathaniel Savage, Zoe Savage, and Dustin Nunley, and great-grandson Ayden Savage.

Paula was an RN at Community Hospital, then later became part of the office staff for Dr. Frank Donaldson where she worked until her retirement. She touched and comforted many lives in her career as a nurse.

Holidays were always centered around family gatherings at Paula’s home. Christmas was especially important. The house was always decorated completely, and the family was always there regardless of where they were living.

Paula will be greatly missed by family and friends, but she leaves us with memories that are unequaled and irreplaceable.

There will be no public services. A private family service will be held.
