Philip L. Hollingsworth, 79, of Anderson, passed away at home surrounded by his family on May 6, 2024. He was born on June 13, 1944, in Anderson, Indiana, where he resided all of his life.
Phil graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1962. He then served his country in the United States Air Force as a Russian language specialist.
He was a tool and die maker for Delco-Remy Division of General Motors, and retired after 37 years of service.
He was an avid reader and gardener and had a fascination with technology.
Phil is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Karen (Thompson) Hollingsworth; children, James (Naomi) Hollingsworth, Jessica (Mike) Robertson, and Jon (Karen) Hartley; several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are his sisters, Mary Stanton, Paula Hazelbaker, and Kathy Helton, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat, Shadow.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George D. and Julia A. (Britton) Hollingsworth; sister, Sally Hollingsworth; and brothers, George Hollingsworth, John Hollingsworth, and Donald Hollingsworth.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all the nurses, doctors, and staff on the 3rd floor at Community North Hospital for all their love and support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Madison County Humane Society.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
