Phyllis was a proud 1946 graduate of Anderson High School. She remembered fondly her time working in Joe’s Record Shop with her older brother, owner Joe Pike, and had a lifelong love of jazz music. She enjoyed selling Avon, working in the Tupperware office, and was the secretary for the Association of Churches in Anderson for many years. Phyllis treasured her friends at the AARP and Rangeline Community Center, and especially enjoyed getting together with her AHS classmates.
Phyllis is survived by daughter, Cherie (Harvey) Fishel, daughter, Peggy (Larry) Costa, daughter, Stephanie (Royce) Miller, son, John (Patty) Swallow, son, Jim (Denise) Swallow, step-son, Jay (Petra) Van Duyn, and many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John G. Van Duyn, father, Albert E. Pike, mother, C. Jane Pike, and four dearly loved siblings, Joe Pike, Doris Pike, Ralph Pike, and Rachael (Ron) Ginder.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at First Light Home Care for their support and friendship over Phyllis’s last years, especially Taylor and Felisha.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 11:30am at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, Anderson, IN, with visitation at the same location from 9:30am -11:30am. Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park immediately following the service.
