Raymond Eugene Turpen, 83, of Anderson, passed away on April 1, 2016 at Edgewater Woods Nursing Home. He was born on March 9, 1933 in Lubbock County, Texas.
Raymond was very proud to have graduated from Purdue University and Ivy Tech at the age of 60.
He retired custodian for General Motors.
He was a member of Alethia Fellowship & Ministry Center where he was very active, the VFW Honor Guard and Past Chapter President of the Korean War Veterans. Raymond was also a member of various gun and conservation clubs.
Raymond is survived by his daughters, Brenda (Paul) Hamilton and Vicky (Tim) Hull; grandchildren, Chris (Mandy) Young, Brian Young, Joshua (Sarah) Hull, Rachel (David) Brown and Daniel Hull; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including Denny (Paula) Turpen; special children, Neal Jakes and Roger Trueblood as well as being a grandfather to many.
He was preceded in death on September 10, 2011 by his loving wife, Betty Lou Turpen, whom he married December 24, 1953; son, Orie Turpen; parents, Leon and Leora (Mills) Turpen and siblings, Henry Leon Turpen, Burnice Claude Turpen and Ralph Turpen.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 7, 2016, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at Alethia Fellowship & Ministry Center.
Rev. Gary McCaslin will officiate the service at 2:00pm with Military Rites conducted immediately following.
