Born in Monterey, Tennessee, to Clevell Ford Walker and Dallas Clinton Walker, Reba was a force to be reckoned with. Accomplishments of this remarkable woman included singing on the radio at WHBU in Cookeville, Tennessee, at the age of five. And she joyously continued singing until her final days.
Reba met the love of her life Don while she was on a date with someone else. They stopped to help Don with a flat tire. Reba and Don married in 1951 and happily enjoyed 64 years of marriage. On their honeymoon, Reba caught chickenpox. Later, Don was called to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Reba was an awesome mother to Debbie Qualls (Anderson) and Ronnie Qualls (Vanessa; Fishers). She also enjoyed her grandchildren, Mallory Qualls Charles (Aaron) and Malachi Qualls.
Reba filled her time serving the Lord, participating in different capacities at various churches, and helping with a smile wherever needed. She loved to decorate cakes and formed a club that each month would decorate cakes for Bronnenberg Children's Home. Reba served her country by working at the polls during election time. Line dancing and teaching line dancing was also a favorite pastime. Reba laughingly referred to line dancing as "foot communication".
Reba worked at Walgreens, Colliers Cleaners, Ward Stilson, Barber Springs, and lastly her favorite, General Motors. She retired from Delco Remy Plant 11 in Anderson.
Reba and Don loved time spent together in retirement, including travel, family get-togethers, church activities, and simple pleasures such as walking in the park, watching the sunset, and coffee anywhere, anytime, anyplace especially McDonald's.
An extraordinary daughter, wife, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend, Reba truly enjoyed life. She was a bright shimmering light to all who knew her. The world will be a little dimmer without her sparkling presence.
The Qualls family thanks the First Church of the Nazarene in Anderson, especially Pastor Gary Klinger, for their exceptional service to their family throughout the years. The family is also grateful to Guardian Angel Hospice for their marvelous care at the conclusion of Reba's journey on earth, especially Mandy Corn RN and social worker Kiera Rogers. They also appreciate Transcare Transport for their gentle, tender delivery of Reba to her home. A celebration of life will be Monday, Aug. 22 at 11:30 a.m. at Loose Funeral Home, 200 W. 53rd St. in Anderson, with Pastor Gary Klinger officiating.
